Dating a Friend – How to Turn Your Friend Into a Lover

Experts say that the best foundation of marriage is friendship. If you are able to share anything with your spouse, spend fun times with her, agree on almost anything and talk to her in almost anything – you have some of the elements of a successful marriage. With this, dating a friend is one thing that can probably give you a hint of a possible success in building a good lifetime relationship.

However, dating a friend can be a little difficult from the start. Of course, she treats you as a friend and changing that would probably be a challenge on your part. Worst, you might even lose the friendship; therefore, it needs careful planning, and of course, acceptance that it will take time.

- Know what you really want. If you want to date your friend, it is important to think about it a thousand times. That is, think if you really want to have an intimate relationship with her. One consequence of dating a friend, as mentioned earlier is that, it may destroy the friendship. That is why, before you even attempt to let your friend know – think about what you want and what you feel – is it just a short-term attraction, or is it something deeper than that.

- Stop being a friend. What is the big difference in dating a friend is that, you have already known each other and if you have been friends for a long time, you may have shared some embarrassing and stupid things you have done in the past, or you may let her share about her love interests. If you want to date her, you have to give limits to what you share. Change the topic if she starts to tell you about some guy she is interested in, and make your embarrassing experiences an off-limits subject.

- Treat her like treating someone you like. Make her feel how it is if you are his lover. Plan an activity that will make her happy and be excited about. Bring her to activities that you would most possibly bring someone you date with. Give her compliments and flirt with her.

- Use body language. Body language is probably much easier when you are friends. But make sure you are touching her differently than you usually do. You can try putting your arms around her or touching her during conversations – and make her feel special. By that, if she responds to your flirting, you will get an idea if she is also into you. Remember also that you do not need to rush. If she will have a great time with you, your friends or family might think you are dating and it might make her think of that possibility.

- Be patient. Dating a friend may be a test of your patience as well. Unlike some women you met somewhere else whom you can date and forget if it does not work, dating a friend is a little more complicated. You have a friendship to lose if the dating would not turn out right. Well, unless she wants to remain friends with you even if she refuses to date you, that won’t be a problem though.
